Here’s the freshly installed strap on my Submariner.
Super easy to install. Here’s what I did:
- Removed the metal bracelet from the watch

Reused the spring bars since they seemed to be thicker than the Crafter Blue spring bars.
Note: I read somewhere that using a thinner spring bar instead of the appropriate thickness can enlarge the pin hole over time. So if you need extra spring bars, make sure you get the right ones!
- Used my thumbnails to reinstall the spring bars back into the watch
Pro tip: After installing the strap, make sure you can visually see the spring bars poking through the holes. The 16800 has drilled lugs, so you can do this. Also, give the straps a tug to ensure the strap is seated firmly.
Initial impressions:
- This is exactly what I wanted and the price is very reasonable for $60
- Strap sits flush against the case so there’s no gaps whatsoever
- I read one review that the bezel gets stuck when the strap is installed, but that’s not my experience. My bezel works the same as before and turns without any strap friction
- The rubber is quite thick. So if you’re seeking a thin strap, this is not it. I prefer this thicker rubber as it feels more premium
- The extra strap holes is excellent. I have a 6.25” wrist and I use the 4th last hole. With a sweaty wrist, I can go up a notch for some extra room
- Overall: I’m highly satisfied and would buy this again. It’s a surprise to me that there aren’t that many Crafter Blue reviews so hopefully my review helps others considering getting one for themselves
